(Report of Inspector - 4th Brigade - July 6, 1918)

Fourth Brigade Headquarters established at Nanteuil under command of Colonel Neville. Liaison established with 101st Artillery whose headquarters at present are at CAUMONT. Final headquarters not yet established. Fifth Marine Headquarters, now at NANTEUIL, to move this afternoon to the vicinity of CROUTTES. Regiment disposed in line, 2nd and 3rd Battalions in line, 2nd on the right, 1st Battalion in reserve. Visited 3rd Battalion. Companies in woods in rear of line. First and second lines have been reconnoitered by company and platoon officers, assignment of line made, two companies in first line and two in second. Platoon headquarters near Hill 199.

Sixth Marine headquarters at PISSELOUP. Second and Third Battalions in line, Second Battalion on right. First battalion in reserve. Visited Second Battalion. Thorough reconnaissance has been made of position and units assigned. Are now held in woods south of CHAMPVERSY. Telephonic connection established. Battaliot Commander has requested a detail of engineers to supervise completion of trench system.

Both battalions visited have liaison with battalions on the right and left and are keeping men under cover. Rolling kitchens are with battalions. Battalion commanders have ordered reconnaissance to be made tonight of the ground in front of their positions.
