November 12, 1918.
Weather Fair -
Day spent by troops of the 2d Division in resting. The 5th Marines consolidated the positions held by the 1st & 2d Bns and the 3d Bns crossed the Meuse relieving one Btn of the 9th Inf that had crossed during the night of 10/11 Nov 18, in support of the 5th Marine regt.
The line occupied by our troops East of the Meuse at 12:00 noon as located by an officer from Hdqrs 2d Div. is as follows - 1st Bn 5th Mar. in line extending from point north east 1/4 Kil, along the north east, eastern & southern sides of Senegal Farm - the troops located in Squares 01-91. Stenay 1:20000 Map - The Second Btn 1 Co at 308.3-311.9. 1 Co. at 309.5-313.8. 1 Co at 310 - 313.2. 1 Co. 310.1 - 312.5. The 3d Bn as follows - 1 Co. 307.9-311.3. 1 Co. 307.8-310.9. 1 Co 309.1-310.9. 1 Co. 309 - 311.4. The troops were dug in in small trenches, Foxholes and in shelters. The roads slightly improved owing to the day being bright & clear.

Weather Fair.
The 6 Marine regiment took over that portion of the line west of the Meuse occupied by the 9th Inf, in vicinity of La Faubourg & Villemontry. The other troops spending the day in cleaning up. The movement of German trains to the northeast was observed.

November 14, 1918.
Weather Cloudy-
The troops of the 2d Div. occupying the front line were relieved by troops of the 77th Div. The relieved troops and other units of the Division spent the day in resting and cleaning up. The Command of the front line passed from the Comd Gen of the 4th Brigade to the Comdg Gen of the relieving Brigade of the 77th Div at 12:30 hours. At this hour the command of the sector passed to the 77th Div and with that action the 2d Div passed from the 5th to the 3d Corps.

Weather Fair-
The troops of the 2d Div. spent the day refitting and preparing for the march to the Rhine as ordered in F.O. 59 3 Corps 19 hours 14 Nov. 1918 - Complying with F.O. 59 and G3 order 246 3d Army Corps, F. O. 65 issued directing the movt of one regt of the 3d Brigade to march to Stenay arriving there by 18 hours on 16 Nov 1918.

Weather Cloudy -
The Division spent the day in preperation for the trip to the Rhine. Pursuant to F.O. 65 The 23 Inf and the 15th F.A. regt. moved from their present stations to Stenay & vicinity in order that they might be in position to cross the front line held by the Allies at 5:30 hours on 17 Nov 1918.

Pursuant to F.O. #66 The troops of the Second Division moved over the front line held by the Allies at 5:30 hours marching as follows - Column No 1 - (right) Col. Rhea Comdg - 23 Infty 9th Infty - 15 F.A. Regt., 1 Co 2d Engrs - 2d Det Military Police - This column marched via Beaumont, Stenay, Chauvency Chateau Montmedy - to the following areas, 23 Inf to Montmedy - 9th Infty to Chauvency-Chateau, 15th F.A. Reg - Chauvency Chateau, 1 Co 2d Engrs & 1 Detch of Mil. Police to Montmedy. Column No 2. (left) Gen. Neville Comdg - 5th Marines - 6 Marines- 12 Field Artillery Co. C. 2d Engrs Detch. Mil. Police, Marched via Pouilly - Inor Olizy sur Chiers Margut to the following Areas - 5 Marines to Margut, Moiry, Fromy Area. 6th Marines La Ferte sur Chiers, 12 F.A. Olizy sur Chiers, 1 Co Eng & Det Mil Pol to Margut.
Column No. 3. (Reserve) Col. Mitchel Comdg - The 2d Engrs - 17 F.A. 4th M. G. Bn. 1st F. S. Bn 2d Co Mil Pol. Hq Troop marched via convenient roads to Stenay - Stenay Montmedy road & billeted as follows - 2d Engrs. to Chauvency Chateau, 17 F.A. to Quincy. 4 M G Bn to Quincy lst F Sig Bn & Hq Troop to Stenay. The 4th Column (Trains) Col. Rifensberick Composed of the following units - Tn. Hdqrs - 2d Engr Train, 2d Amm Train - 2d Trench Mortar Bty - 2d San Tn Hqrs - F H 1-15-16-23 - Amb Cos. 1-15-16-23. Supply Train, Mob Vet Unit MORS. 116 M.S.T.U. 303-363, marched to the vicinity of Stenay & billeted for the night. The roads were very rough, there was some straggling. Weather Cold. There was no hostile demonstration by either hostile troops or by Civilians. The P. C. of the 2d Div closed at Fosse at 16 hours and opened at Stenay same hour and date - The leading Bns of both 1st and 2d columns established outposts on their front upon halting.

Weather Fair.
The Division marched as shown in F.O. 68 in two columns. Same order as yesterday. March started at 7:30 hours. The various units halted for the night as follows -

The Bn of the 5th Marines in vicinity of Etalle and the Bn of the 23d Inf. vicinity St Leger - together with attached troops established outposts upon halting. The P.C. of the 2d Div. closed at Stenay at 18 hours & opened at Virton same date & hour.

Weather Fair.
The Units of the 2d Div. remains in place as shown under date of 18 Nov. The P.C. of the 3d Brig. moved to Ethe at 11:30 hours. Day spent in cleaning up and close order drill. Outposts continued as on 18 Nov. Friendly demonstrations by civil population in various parts of area.

November 23, 1918.
Weather Fair - Cold. Roads Good.
Pursuant to F.O. 67 3d Army Corps F.O. 72 2d Div issued and the forward movt of Divisional Troops started at 7.30 hours for Columns No 1 - 2 and 10.00 hours for Columns #3-4. This last together with the early movt of the 42 Div. caused considerable confusion on the roads among troops and trains of our 3d & 4th Columns. The troops continued march, arriving at and being billeted as follows - Fels (Larochette) 2d Div. Hq. 2 F.A. Brig. 1st F.S. Bn. Hq Troop 2d Co Mil Pol. FH 1. - Beaufort Hq. 3d Brig. 9th Inf. - Eppeldorf Hq. 4th Brig. 5 Mar. 6 M.G. Bn. - Medernach 23 Inf. - Reisdorf 6 Mar. - Folkendingen 12 F.A. - Christnac 15 F.A. - Berringen 17 F.A. - Nommern 4 M.G. The troops of the 2D Div. spent the day in resting & cleaning up. The 4th M.G. Bn moved from Gladbach Obr. to Nommern. On verbal request of G.3. 3d Corps. The 2d TM Bty moved from Reckinghem to Meisemburg. The MORS 116 from Pettingen to Gladbach Obr. and the Mob. Vet. Unit from Essingen to Mosdorf.

Weather Rainy.
The Troops of the Division spent the day in cleaning up Arms, Equipment, vehicles, harness and animals. Co F 23 Inf. left as a guard over property in Arlon was moved by truck (4 M.G. Bn) to Fishbach. Owing to a shortage of Gasoline the 4 Bn was unable to proceed at the time ordered. The 1st Bn 5 Marines moved to Gilsdorf. The 1st Bn. 6 Marines moved to Mostroff.

Weather Cloudy.
The 2d Division spent the day in training. The movement Co F 23 Inf. completed by 16 hours this date. Owing to to the withdrawal of the French Troops on our left, One platoon from the 4th Brig was ordered to move into Diekirch and a platoon into Bottendorf as outposts. Combat groups were thrown out north of Gilsdorf. No changes in locations.
