First Lieut. Eric W. Luster (Aug. 15, 1918—April 22, 1919).

Nov. 10, 1917.

Training Periods.
Rosieres-sur-Mouzon, Jan. 3, —March 15, 1918. Bois de l'Eveque, Aug, 15—Sept. 3, 1918.

Verdun Sector.
Stationed at Ancemont.

Aisne-Marne Defensive (Chateau Thierry).
Supplied front line troops with engineer tools during the period June 2—July 10, in the Chateau Thierry sector.

Aisne-Marne Offensive (Soissons).
On June 16 the Train left its station on the Marne to take part in the July 18 counter-offensive. Relieved on the night of July 19 and moved to Prigny, near Meaux, for rest.

Marbache Sector.
On July 30 the Train entrained for Nancy. Billetted [sic] at Frouard for four days and then moved to the woods between Dieulouard and Belleville.

St. Mihiel Offensive.
Delivered picks, wire-cutters, and shovels to the attacking troops on Sept. 11th, and when the attack started followed the infantry forward, reaching the Bois de Four on Sept. 13th. Relieved on Sept. 15th, and the Train moved back to Toul.

Meuse-Argonne Offensive (Champagne).
Took part in 2nd Division attack near Blanc Mont ridge Oct. 2—10. Remained in with 36th Division until latter part of October.

Meuse-Argonne Offensive.
Participated in attack of Nov 1—11. Established dumps at Sommerance and Exermont. Moved forward behind troops, stopping at Landreville, Buzancy and Sommauthe. Located at Beaumont when the Armistice went into effect.

March to the Rhine.
Passed through towns in France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and crossed German border on Dec. 1. Reached permanent station at Block Heimbach, Germany, on Dec. 20, 1918.

[Many, if not all, of the 2nd Engineer Train returned to the U.S. on the S.S. Wilhelmina sailing from Brest to Hoboken — July 27, 1919 to August 6, 1919 with at least some of the 6th Marines. ed.]
