Captain Fredrick C. Hummel


Captain Frederick C. Hummel

Was born in Renchen, Baden, Germany September 9 1884 and came to America in 1889. Graduated from the Architectural School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1909 and immediately entered the firm of Tourtelotte and Hummel, architects, Boise, Idaho. He enlisted in Co H, 2nd Idaho. Inf. in February 1912, was commissioned 2nd. Lieutenant in February 1913, and promoted to 1st Lieutenant June 2. 1916. Served with his organization on the Mexican Border in 1916 and on Guard Duty in the Northwest in 1917. Was transferred to Headquarters Company 116th Engineers at Camp Mills, N. Y., in November 1917, which organization he commanded from May 1918 to the present. He was promoted to Captain on September 14th 1918.

Note: Captain Hummel may have changed the spelling of his surname later in life. ed.
