The Patch indicates the 3rd Battalion.

The patch is painted on and as was the tradition for parades. The Marine Corps Eagle Globe and Anchor emblem was attached over the 2nd division patch.

The Indian Head logo is behind the Eagle Globe and Anchor emblem. The patch color is blue for 3rd battalion. Not black for HQ. The holes were punched in as was the practice in the field.
