Skamania County Pioneer:
Henry Pearsall, 38, passed away Tuesday evening at seven-fifteen at his home in Mill Town. Death ended a lingering illness which developed after being gassed in the World war. Henry Raymond Pearsall was born at Pomeroy, Washington on July 10, 1898. Soon after this country entered the World war he volunteered on April 19, 1917, and was placed with Company C, Second Engineers. He was at the battle front and engaged in seven battles, namely: Aisne Def, Chateau Thiery, Aisne Marne, Marbachu, St. Meheil and two different engagements at Meuse Argonne. He was given his honorable discharge August 19, 1919. Following the signing of the armistice, he served for eight months with the army of occupation in Germany. He was a member of Skamania County American Legion Post No. 65. He is survived by his widow Eva; one son, Donald, aged 9; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Stout, of Clarkston; four sisters, Nellie Schroll and May Leach, of Vancouver; Lillion Deiro, Gladys Kalkman, of Yakima; two brothers, Clarence of Yakima and Roy of Stevenson. Services will be held at the Congregational Church today (Friday) at one o'clock p.m. under the supervision of the Skamania County American Legion Post. Burial will take place at Camas with military honors. |
