Colonel Manus McCloskey, commanding officer, 12th F. A., 2nd Div., at Verdun, April 30, 1918. The 12th F. A. was the immediate and main artillery support of the Marines in all their actions in France. A very fine relationship existed between the Marines and the 12th F. A. Col. McCloskey later was appointed a brigadier general and assigned to command the 152nd F. A. Brig., 77th Div.
