He captured a machine gun nest at Soissons. The officers, Major A. D'Alary Fechet, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Inf. and Lieut. L.D. Cook, 2nd Batalion, 55th Co., U.S.M.C. have received the Chevalier, Legion of Honor and and Croix de Guerre for gallantry in action.

23rd Infantry The sequence number 492 on this photograph indicates that it might have been taken in Germany in 1919 about the time the 2nd Division was preparing for the return trip to the U. S. However, that isn't a proven fact. (Ed.)
